Lisa Bowerman trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and subsequently performed with many regional theatre companies around the UK; including the Bristol Old Vic, Salisbury Playhouse, Windsor Theatre Royal, the BAC, Oxford Stage Company and many more. She also worked in the West End in Rick’s Bar Casablanca (Whitehall), Cavalcade (Sadler’s Wells), and tours including Hay Fever, Blood Brothers and The Circle.

Her TV work includes the first two series of the long running UK hospital drama Casualty as Paramedic Sandra Mute, also Karra in Doctor Who – Survival, and many more series including Doctors, Spooks, Bad Girls, Hollyoaks, and several episodes of Coronation Street.

She can also been seen (on-line) in the short film "Wizard" (produced by the Guerrier brothers and starring David Warner). Lisa has done recorded many plays for BBC Radios 3 and 4, but since 1998, has gained a significant following for her performance as the intergalactic archaeologist Professor Bernice Summerfield in a series of popular Doctor Who-related audio dramas from Big Finish Productions, (based on the character created by Paul Cornell for the Doctor Who New Adventures novels).

She is also a prolific director of radio drama for Big Finish Productions, on many series including Sapphire & Steel, Doctor Who – The Companion Chronicles, Early Adventures & Lost Stories, Stargate, Graceless, Blake’s 7 and has recently finished directing (and appearing in) Series 10 of their highly popular Jago & Litefoot period adventure series.

Lisa also voiced the character of Seruba Velak in the BBC Doctor Who animation Dreamland.

Most recently she has also appeared in recordings of two of the lost stories from the famous ‘50s radio series Dick Barton! Special Agent for BBC AudioGo, and made a very brief appearance in Peter Davison’s spoof documentary "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot" to mark the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who.
